An assessment of the feasibility of initiating urban agriculture in Pardis New Town of Iran

Initiation of urban agriculture in small-scale areas not only serves an ecological function but has also become one the most important measures management for increasing sociocultural capital and mental physical health citizens through providing a site social relations population. Community gardens have especially Iranian new towns, which are facing severe challenges. This research attempts to evaluate possibility initiating community garden Pardis New Town using qualitative approach content analysis interviews, focus group meetings, as well online survey. Research findings shown that despite short period residence Town, due background local self-organized communal activities create green neighborhood, relatively adequate skills residents gardening work experience their previous places residence, declaration readiness engage volunteer activities, conditions favorable initiation its bottom-up collaboration with official institutions.
